FOL Mission Statement
The De Soto Public Library’s FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY (FOL) program continues to be an important part of the library’s continued success.
The group’s purpose is to create public support for the library, sponsor programs designed to add to the cultural life of the community, promote public awareness and use of DSPL, encourage gifts and memorials to the library, purchase some items needed by patrons and staff and provide volunteer work.
Become a Friend of the Library
Through fundraising, events and generating public awareness, FOL enables De Soto Public Library to provide additional services and special events for our patrons. For example, money from FOL book sales and other fundraisers have gone towards the purchase of our comfortable seating, for bringing authors, musicians, and artists to the library, and for purchasing refreshments and other items needed for the library programs such as the summer reading program.
When and Where Do We Meet?
The Friends of the Library meet on the first Thursday of the month at 1 p.m. at the De Soto Public Library, from September through June.
