9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.


 

Come out to the De Soto Public Library to view this once-in-a-lifetime event.


We will have:

  • Special telescopes available to view the sun
  • Eclipse activities
  • Learn about essential eye protection and safety
  • Eclipse glasses available for purchase ($1.00/pair)
  • Refreshment vendors
  • Cooling stations
  • Open bathrooms

…and we’ll be streaming NASA live!!!

 


 Library Eclipse Day Schedule 

 

Monday, August 21st, 2017

  • 9:00 a.m. – Library Opens
  • Hold activity station events including food/snow cone trucks and cooling stations:
    • Making Pinhole Viewers
    • Galaxy Dough
    • UV bead crafts
    • Sidewalk chalk
    • Sundials
    • Book displays
    • T-shirts and eclipse glasses sales
    • Stream NASA on projector screen
  • 11:30 a.m. – Library closes
  • 11:49:28 a.m. – Phase 1 begins: partial eclipse
  • 1:16:49 p.m. – Phase 2: Totality starts
  • 1:19:29 p.m. – Phase 3: Totality ends, Phase 4 begins
  • Continue activity stations, add new ones, record experiences:
    • Flip books
    • Coloring sheets
    • “Tell Your Story”
    • Eclipse selfies
  • 2:00 p.m. – Reopen Library
  • 2:36 p.m. – Eclipse officially ends
